Pennsylvania Railroad (Class BM70m; Tuscan, black; Dulux)
Walthers Part # 920-17260
HO scale
One of the key cars on many important Pennsylvania trains were the Railway Post Office (RPO) cars. As many trains were upgraded with streamlined equipment in the late 1940s, heavyweight head-end cars such as this were rebuilt to more closely resemble the new equipment with rounded roofs, but contiued to ride on 6-wheel trucks. Designated as Class BM70M (baggage-mail, 70' overall length), this class was fitted with a 60' postal apartment where mail was sorted en route, with a small 10' space at one end of the car that was used for express shipments. A must-have for major trains like the Broadway Limited as well as dedicated mail trains, features of this layout-ready WalthersProto replica include:
- Order now, limited quantity available
- Factory-installed grab irons
- Correct trucks
- Correct 36" RP-25 metal wheelsets
- Proto MAX(TM) metal knuckle couplers
PLEASE NOTE: As these cars are the correct protoype length and feature full underbody detail to match the prototypes, a minimum 24" radius is recommended for operation.
Because of the truck spacing, extended drawbars are not included with this car.
